Stunt Car Online is a single man project – it is continously being worked on by me, if you could find it in your heart to spare whatever you can to aid my cause that’d be great. I want as many people as possible to enjoy playing the game. However, there are a lot of costs in developing and hosting such a project – If you like Stunt Car Online and want it to grow and change please consider supporting me.
Below is a break down of the “causes” of Stunt Car online – I’ve split these so that you can decide which cause you’d like to support (and it will give me an indication what is important to you) – If you’re not sure which cause to support, just support any!
What’s in it for me?
Remember: There are in game rewards for people who donate! – I plan on adding lots of additional content to the game, and this will be released to “gold” users first. If you’re a gold user, you’ll get access to all the stuff in the game as I put it in. ANY donation amount will make you a gold user.
I will also put you in the game’s hall of fame displayed on the website (coming soon!) – with an optional Quote from yourself. Be imortalised on the wall of fame!
UNITY PRO LICENSE
This cause will help me buy a Unity Pro License, This will enable the game of Stunt Car Online have the benefits of Unity Pro.
- Real Time Shadows – The shadows in the game will be created in real time, meaning the players can will have shadows inside it’s cockpit, as well as casting proper shadows from the car itself.
- Full Screen Effects – Motion Blur being the big one – I’d like to add Motion blur to the outside of the world to really help get the feeling of speed
- Occlusion Culling – This will increase the performance of the game dramatically because with this feature turned on, the game will stop rendering polygons that are not visible (as it currently does) – this means I’ll be able to use MORE polygons, and therefore improve the look of the game!
Also, coming in version 3.5 of Unity
- Level of Detail meshes – This is pretty much essential for Multiplayer above 2 players, currently the cars have 30 to 40 thousand polygons in. With a Level of Detail system, the cars that are further away can be reduced in polygon complexity and therefore be rendered quicker. (quicker = more players)

BOB’S TRACK BUILDER
This cause will help me create tracks much faster as Bob’s Track Builder is a custom made tool for making racing tracks in game. With this software I would be able to turn around tracks in a much faster time than it currently takes using 3dsMAX
Website Hosting (as well as providing downloads) costs me a lot of money each month. As the bandwidth of downloading the game increases, so do my costs! – Supporting this cause will help me pay for these fees.
