I’m back!!! And now married!
by Chris on Jun.14, 2011, under status
I’m back!!! And now married, (and now back into SCO in a big way!) – so I’m planning a big video, which I need for multiple reasons. One, so I can push the game further into the public domain, and two, because my other teaser video is a bit old now.. I’m going to start work on the “download” version of the game, (and that will become the only version) – and move the online browser version to a “demo” area of the website. Once I’ve released the first download version, I’ll then go about adding content, new tracks (Which without BTB will take me longer to make *hint hint*) I’m aiming for 3 really top notch tracks and then maybe look at another car? I dunno..
Anyway, I’m back, expect big things.
Just released version 0.4.5

Just released version 0.4.5
Phew, what a couple of weeks!, It’s been easter break here in the UK so I’ve been away from my computer for two weeks, the break has been nice but I’ve missed working on StuntCar – it seems that there are a lot of Guest players and not that many people bothering to register to play the game, this is fine (I usually can’t be bothered to go through a registration process myself) and I guess the incentive of saving your lap time isn’t all that great.
How are the donations going?
A big fat ZERO.
Anyway, moving swiftly on to version 4.5
FEATURE: Added a head bounce joint to the car, so now the drivers head (when in camera mode 1) will ‘lag’ behind the car giving a much more realistic feel to the driving. Makes the impacts a lot more hefty.
BUG: I STILL had a few bugs with the registration process, basically, now, when you play the game you will automatically be upgraded in the forums to a “Player” group member, which means you can then post on the forums, (It’d be nice if someone said hello)
NEXT UP: I guess the next thing I’m going to look at is more tracks. Boy I’d really like about 80 dollars to buy bobstrack builder http://www.bobstrackbuilder.net/ but I guess *sigh*, the donations aren’t exactly flooding in…
Still, there’s a few back-end kinds of things I can do to make sure the data for highscores and stuff gets sent and put in the right place (Currently the sql database only understands one track) – then I’ll probably quickly bung out a “mirrored” track mode like the old Sega racing games, so I can test the database.
(there’s a good chance the next version will be V0.5!)
Thanks for reading.

And away we go, the game is live…
by Chris on Feb.14, 2011, under status
And away we go, the game is live, well, at least a test version is alive, lets hope someone actually comes along and plays it!. It’s all set up to record peoples lap times (hence the requirement to log in, I want to test the server, hopefully one or two people will sign up and give it a go…) please post in the forums if you have any issues.

Been working on the global leaderboards
by Chris on Feb.09, 2011, under status
Been working on the global leaderboards. And now they work… Once registered, the player can log into the game and set their fastest lap time, if they then quit out of the game altogether, it stores their best laptime online so when they come back it’s still there.. (there’s obviously also a global leaderboard)
it’s working.. Next task is to make it so players can register (Although I probably won’t allow this in-game.. but then again, I might)
After a quick break
by Chris on Feb.02, 2011, under status
Okay So had to take a little break doing other stuff.. (Like wedding invites) but I’m back and badder than ever. Been working on the game, and hopefully soon will be able to have the big unveil… My current thinking is that the game will be donation ware only, with some sort of “supporters” model so that people who help me get some sort of reward. Anyway, It’s all progressing slowly in the background. Once I’ve got these invites out of the way expect big things!
